The WRT University Career & HBCU Experience (also known as Ready2Earn) is back but this time 365!

The program will include in-person and hybrid career exploration and development programming.


Am I Eligible?

You may qualify if you answer yes to the following questions

  • The youth that will be applying will be ages 14-19 on 05/01/2023
  • The youth's primary residence will be in Franklin County on 05/01/2023

Youth ages 14 and 15

Youth that will be 14 and 15 on 05/01/2023 can earn up to $1,500 in stipends and incentives for completing project-based learning goals, skill development, and career exploration.


Youth ages 16 to 19

Opportunities for In-person internships, paying $15/hour, are available for youth that will be ages 16 to 19 on 05/01/2023.

The purpose of this notice is to enable you to make an informed decision about whether to give data about yourself.  This information is being collected to facilitate the implementation of the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, to effectively manage and evaluate the program’s effectiveness, to comply with reporting requirements to the United States Department of Treasury, and to efficiently administer future COVID-related housing assistance programs specifically authorized by the legislature or mandated by the federal government.  You are not legally required to provide any of the requested data; however, if you do not provide the data, we may not be able to provide you with the services or resources you are requesting.  Your data may be shared between the City of Columbus, local jurisdictions implementing the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, the United States Department of Treasury, the program administrators and contractors, community agencies funded from state, federal, and local resources that help provide housing assistance, and the organization(s) identified as holding debt for which you are seeking assistance, and other parties the City of Columbus deems necessary.  The data can also be shared upon court order or provided to the state or legislative auditor.

What does it mean to be "ready to upload"?


  • Your documentation meets the date and content requirements;
  • You have your documentation available as a legible:
    • High resolution scan as a Jpeg, PNG, or PDF;
    • High resolution photo as a Jpeg or PNG;
    • Downloaded PDF from the original document provider
  • You have either an email address or a cell phone number capable of receiving texts (data and messaging rates from your provider apply);

To process your application the WRTU program needs to collect documents to show you are eligible and your expenses can be covered. Further information can be found at WRTU.org or by calling (614) 364-0115. Make sure you have the items below before starting application:

  1. Youth(s) Birth Certificate
  2. Youth(s) & Parent/Guardian Identification Card
  3. Youth(s) Social Security Card
  4. Utility Bill or Lease
  5. Most Recent Report Card
    • No screenshots, only accepting pdf documents.
    • Must be the actual report card & youth's name and school name must be visible.
  6. Last (30) days of income
  7. Proof of Benefits (Examples Below)
    • SNAP
    • Cash Assistance
    • Medical Assistance
    • Unemployment
    • Social Security income
    • Child support income
  8. If self - employed, previous year tax return
  9. Zero income declaration / affidavit for adults in the household if they don’t have income .

Youth who are TANF eligible will be priority, but Non-TANF applicants will also be accepted.

If you are interested in participating and are not TANF-eligible, we are requiring a "Pay-to-Play" fee of $250.00 per participant. This amount would be due in full upon receipt of official acceptance into the Experience. Stay tuned for additional details.
